Why Samsung screens cost what they do
On most Galaxy handsets the display, the digitiser and the frame come as one bonded assembly. There is no separating the glass from the panel at sensible cost, which is why a cracked S22 screen is a panel replacement rather than a glass swap. Anyone quoting you £25 for a Galaxy S-series screen is fitting something that will not match the original for brightness or colour.
Curved-edge models — the Ultra line especially — need controlled heat and a proper separator to lift the assembly without cracking the frame. It is why we allow a little longer for Samsung jobs than for iPhones.
Foldables: Z Flip and Z Fold
We repair both, and we are straight about the cost. The inner folding panel on a Z Fold is one of the most expensive parts in consumer electronics, which is why a Z Fold 6 inner screen is £449 rather than £179. The outer cover display and the hinge are separate repairs and much cheaper.
The most common foldable fault we see is not a drop — it is a crease line failing after a few thousand folds, or grit getting into the hinge. Both are worth showing us before the panel tears; a hinge clean is far cheaper than a screen.
Common Galaxy faults
- Green line down the display. Almost always a failed panel connection rather than software. It usually appears after an update purely by coincidence.
- Battery draining overnight. Galaxy batteries typically hold up for around 500 full cycles. After two or three years a new cell restores full-day life for £25 to £59.
- USB-C port not holding the cable. Very common on A-series handsets that live in a pocket. Often just compacted lint.
- Cameras with a cracked lens cover. On many models the cover glass is replaceable on its own without touching the camera module, which keeps the cost right down.
- Ghost touch after a cheap repair elsewhere. Nearly always an incompatible panel. We can tell you within a minute whether that is what happened.
A-series handsets are worth repairing
People often assume a £180 Galaxy A15 is not worth fixing. At £39 for a screen and £25 for a battery, it usually is — a repair costs a fifth of a replacement and keeps a perfectly good phone out of a drawer.
