Why a small crack is worth fixing now
A phone screen is three layers: the outer glass, the touch digitiser and the display panel underneath. A hairline crack in the outer glass on its own is cosmetic. The problem is what follows.
- Moisture gets in. Any crack breaks the seal. Once damp reaches the digitiser you get phantom touches, dead zones and eventually a phone that types on its own.
- Dead zones lock you out. If the dead patch happens to sit over part of your passcode keypad, you cannot get into your own phone. We see this every month.
- Glass shards. They come off on your thumb. Not dangerous, but unpleasant.
- Cracks spread. Every flex of the frame in a pocket extends the line. A repair does not get cheaper by waiting.
What we do, step by step
Heat is applied evenly around the frame to soften the adhesive. The old assembly is lifted, never prised. Your original earpiece mesh, proximity sensor and any brackets are transferred to the new panel so face detection and call audio keep working. The new screen is connected, tested on the bench before the phone is closed, then sealed with fresh adhesive. Finally we run through touch response across the whole surface, brightness, True Tone or equivalent, front camera and speaker with you watching.
OLED and LCD are not the same thing
This is where cheap repairs go wrong. Most modern flagships use OLED. A replacement "compatible" LCD costs a fraction of an OLED panel and will look noticeably worse — washed-out blacks, lower brightness in daylight, and often no always-on display. Some shops fit them without saying. We tell you which panel type your quote covers, every time, and if you would rather have the cheaper option on an older handset that is your call to make with the facts in front of you.
Screen protectors and cases
We fit a tempered glass protector for £10 on top of any screen repair, applied properly with the dust removal step people skip at home. It is the single cheapest thing you can do to avoid seeing us again for the same reason. A case with a raised lip around the screen matters more than the thickness of the case itself.

On almost all modern phones, no. The glass, the touch layer and the display are bonded into one assembly, so separating them costs more than a new assembly and rarely survives. Glass-only repair is realistic on some older handsets, and we will say so if yours is one.
You will not be. The repair happens in front of you and takes 30 to 45 minutes for most models. The phone does not leave with us.
It depends on the grade, which is why we name it in the quote. Genuine and premium OEM-grade panels match the original for brightness, colour and touch. Budget panels do not, and we will not fit one without telling you exactly what you are getting.
The warranty is 12 months and covers the panel and our workmanship. Message us and we come back out. It does not cover a fresh drop — but we will always look first rather than assume.
Usually yes, and it is often a better outcome than it looks. A black but responsive phone normally means the display panel has failed while everything else works, so a screen replacement brings it straight back with your data untouched.
